Note: I use Microsoft Excel and its built-in features to automatically generate information. I have not tried opening these files in Google’s Sheets application, but I doubt some of the Excel features will work in Sheets. However, I suspect Sheets has similar built-in features so the files could be edited to work in Sheets. At some point I may creates Sheets versions of these Excel files.

Before I dipped my toe in the investing waters for the third time, I used Microsoft Excel to build handy little spreadsheets. These spreadsheets are typically single purpose and easy to use. They are offered as is, with no guarantees, so please double check any calculations. Net Worth. One of the first things you should do before starting on your investing career is to determine your personal net worth. This simple spreadsheet helps you do that.

Executor’s List. This spreadsheet again consolidates personnel financial information, but it was created as a way to pass along financial information in the event of a death. I know, it sounds morbid. However, when the time comes to close down accounts, it will save a lot of time and effort if the required information can be easily located. That being said, if you use this file, keep it very secure as it may contain the keys to all your financial resources.

Baskets of Themed Stocks. During the pandemic i came across the concept of purchasing a basket of stocks rather than try to pick the ‘best’ stock. Since i didn’t have the money to be buying baskets of stocks, i decided to create a spreadsheet of similar stock. They can be a group of stock in a particular sector or a group of companies that fit a particular them. Whenever i came up with a ‘basket’, i added them to this file. You can download and see how the baskets have done or see which companies were the cream of the crop, er, basket. You can even add your own baskets.

Radar Check. This is the Radar Check I refer to in Companies on the Radar section of Weekly Updates. I use this check list to quickly eliminate companies as investment opportunities.
